Bizoagor was produced over a period of 2 years, starting with the recording of Gjuner reciting his poetry to which the music was then composed and recorded by Marc and the lads of Parne Gadje, at the Smoked Recordings studio in Wageningen, the Netherlands. Guest musicians were invited or dropped in on this album. Crispijn Oomes and Koos Koopmans tortured their violins for us, Wilma Paalman, Simone Aarnink., Anaïs Constandse en Joli Douwenga joined in the singing and Natalia Mann got her harp out. The album was then mixed by Michiel en Marc and mastered by Alan Ward.
The album is available through Smoked Recordings and distributed by
Munich Records.
Bizoagor attracted quite a bit of attention in the media:
Phenomenal music. A cd with real content. The listener who makes the effort will be rewarded with beautiful emotionally moving music.
A timeless document, soundscapes that will take deep into the heart of the Balkan soul. (S. van Elst, Platomania).
If you wish to make a journey into a wondrous magical world, leave Ryanair in Charleroi and take off with Bizoagor. (A. Legat, Mazzmusikas).
A beautiful album. A dynamic record which just needs to be expierienced. (M. Adriaans, Folkforum).
The tracks grab you by the throat and are at the same time of unearthly beauty and energy. (J.W. Broek, Oor).
A scintillating CD. Abdula himself recites his poetry and fits seemlessly with Constandse’s music. (Het Parool).
